A domestic fire has destroyed a one-bedroom apartment and partially damaged a two-bedroom apartment at Race Course Rasta Park in the Greater Accra Region.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said firefighters from the Anyaa Fire Station responded swiftly to the incident after receiving a distress call through the Fire Master Control at 6:13 p.m. on Monday, July 7, 2026.

According to the Service, a fire appliance was dispatched a minute later under the command of ADOII Tetteh David Quansah and arrived at the scene at 6:33 p.m.

Firefighters succeeded in bringing the blaze under control by 7:05 p.m. before completely extinguishing it at 8:00 p.m.

The fire completely destroyed a one-bedroom chamber-and-hall apartment, while a nearby two-bedroom chamber-and-hall apartment was partially affected.

The GNFS said the prompt response of its personnel prevented the fire from spreading further, with five additional chamber-and-hall apartments successfully salvaged.

No injuries or fatalities were recorded in the incident.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established, as investigations are currently underway.

The Ghana National Fire Service has repeatedly urged the public to observe basic fire safety measures and promptly report fire outbreaks to minimise damage to lives and property.
