Ghana’s debt risk has fallen from high to moderate for the first time in 12 years, according to Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson.
The Minister announced the development in a post on social media, describing the improvement as a sign of growing confidence in Ghana’s finances.

“Lower risk means more confidence in Ghana’s finances, and a stronger foundation for what comes next,” Dr Ato Forson said.
The Ministry of Finance said the shift from a high to moderate debt-risk classification marks a significant improvement in the country’s fiscal position.
The development comes amid the government’s efforts to restore debt sustainability and strengthen public finances following Ghana’s recent economic and debt crisis.
The Finance Minister’s announcement signals progress in the government’s broader fiscal consolidation efforts, as authorities seek to reduce debt vulnerabilities and create a more stable economic environment.
The Ministry of Finance says the improved debt-risk position provides a stronger foundation for Ghana’s next phase of economic recovery.
