The Ghana Police Service has arrested two men over separate videos containing comments considered offensive and capable of encouraging violence against others.
The first suspect, Masud Abdullah, 35, an Imam, was arrested in connection with a video in which he allegedly called for violence against people who speak ill of Prophet Mohammed.
According to the Police, the comments were made during a sermon at a mosque in Ntensere in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.
In a related case, the Police Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team arrested Daniel Junior Yaw Adjei, also known as Apostle Daniel JY Adjei. He was seen in a video making derogatory and offensive comments about Prophet Mohammed.
The Police said investigations into both cases are ongoing and the suspects will be taken through due process.
The Ghana Police Service has reminded the public, particularly religious leaders, preachers, community leaders and social media commentators, that freedom of religion and freedom of expression do not permit people to encourage violence or call for others to be harmed.
The Police warned that persons who make such statements will be arrested and dealt with according to the law.
