Sim Registration: Go for Ghana card if you don’t have – NCA

The Deputy Director, Consumer and Corporate Affairs at the National Communications Authority (NCA), Mr Kwame Gyan has urged Ghanaians who do not have their Ghana Cards to go for it in order to re-register their sim cards successfully.

According ti him, apart from the Ghana Card, no other card will be accepted for the re-registration of sim cards.

Few days ago, the Minister of Communication, Ursula Owusu Ekuful, announced that the re-registration and registration of sim cards will commence on Friday, 1st October 2021.

The exercise is expected to last for six months, ending on 31st March 2022.
According to the Minister in a Facebook Post, the SIM which is not registered at the end of the exercise will be blocked.

Speaking with Ekourba Gyasi Simpremu on Atinka TV’s morning show, Ghana Nie, Mr Kwame Gyan said, “We started the Ghana card registration three years, and we have six months to do this exercise and so if you do not have it find time to do it.”

For the aged and customers who cannot go to the office to register, he said without seeing the person, the registration cannot be complete because they want to capture the biometric details of everybody.

“We want to confirm that the person is the same on the card and the details are the same so if you do not send the card in person, it will be a problem,” he said.

The newly confirmed Mayor of Tema, Mr Yohane Amarh Ashitey has promised to adopt a radical approach in dealing with the sanitation menace facing the Metropolis.

In his address after being confirmed as the next Mayor of Tema, Yohane Amarh Ashitey, who polled 28 out of 29 votes cast by assembly members, promised to devise some innovations to help improve internally generated funds for the assembly.

He said his administration will be critical in dealing with the sanitation menace by enforcing the operation clean your frontage policy.

Mr Armah Ashitey also promised to improve the welfare of assembly members, urging them to help him bring back the glory image of the Tema Metropolitan Assembly which has been in repute for sometime

The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Mr Henry Quartey, who was the guest of honour, commended assembly members and their MPs for working in hand to ensure they unanimously endorsed the president’s nominee.

He also promised to hold the newly endorsed mayor to his words and monitor his works closely to ensure he delivers on his promises.

The newly confirmed Tema Mayor, Yohane Amarh Ashitey who is an astute Telecom engineer by profession, was before his appointment a Regional Manager for telecommunication giant Huawei and the 2020 Tema East Election Monitoring and Planning Chairman.
