The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has alleged that the Court of Appeal’s decision to acquit and discharge former MASLOC Chief Executive Officer, Sedinam Christine Tamakloe, was politically motivated, describing the ruling as a “well-choreographed, well-planned and well-orchestrated” exercise.
On Thursday, July, 30, 2026, the Court of Appeal acquitted and discharged Madam Tamakloe, overturning her earlier conviction by the High Court.
The Attorney-General has since announced that the State will appeal the decision at the Supreme Court.
Addressing a press conference at the party’s headquarters in Accra, National Organizer of the party, Henry Nana Boakye argued that the appellate court’s decision was not merely a judicial outcome but one that raised serious concerns about the integrity of the justice system.
According to him, Madam Tamakloe had undergone a five-year trial during which the prosecution relied on documentary evidence, forensic audits and witness testimony.
He noted that the High Court convicted her on multiple counts, including stealing, causing financial loss to the state, money laundering and breaches of the Public Procurement Act, sentencing her to 10 years’ imprisonment.
The party called on the Attorney-General to publicly account for the legal basis of the acquittal and urged the Supreme Court to expeditiously hear the State’s intended appeal.
