The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced an expedited passport replacement exercise for Ghanaians whose passports were lost or damaged during the recent floods that affected parts of the country.

In a statement issued on July 3, 2026, the Ministry expressed its sympathy to residents affected by the devastating floods and extended condolences to families who lost loved ones during the disaster.

The Ministry acknowledged that many victims lost important personal documents, including Ghanaian passports, as a result of the flooding and said the special intervention is intended to help them quickly replace their travel documents.

According to the statement, the expedited service is available exclusively to individuals whose Ghanaian passports were lost or damaged because of the floods.

Affected persons have been directed to contact the Ministry on 055 936 8563 between Friday, July 3, and Friday, July 17, 2026, to begin the replacement process.

When making the call, applicants are required to provide their full name, date of birth, gender as it appeared in the lost or damaged passport, and a current telephone number to facilitate follow-up.

The Ministry said it aims to process and replace all eligible passports within one week of receiving the necessary information.

According to the statement, the initiative forms part of the Ministry’s contribution to the government’s broader flood recovery efforts and is intended to ease the burden on affected citizens by enabling them to regain their travel documents as quickly as possible.
